LOA - 78'
Beam - 13'
Draft - 4'6"

Compared to modern scantlings (Elements of Boat Strength, Dave Gerr, 2000) the original construction is massive, typically everything is at least 150% of the standard size.

Original materials:

Keel - elm
Hog - oak, possibly douglas fir or pitch pine in places
Stem, stern post - oak
Frames - sawn oak
Ribs - rock elm
Stringers - teak
Planking - 2" teak
Floors - oak, wrought iron
Engine bearers - some kind of very tough softwood, possibly douglas fir or pitch pine?
Cabin sides - 2" teak, after section rebuilt 1947 and 1979 in ply
Decks - unknown, probably teak, rebuilt 1947, 1979 (aft), 1989 (fore) in ply
Fastenings - copper boat nails, bronze screws
Rudder, props, etc. - bronze, except skeg which was replaced with stainless steel c.1989

A summary of the major work so far, two years into the project

Around the stern we have replaced the sternpost itself, replaced 6 frames and have made major fixes to another 4 frames. There were also repairs made to the planking. In the main after section we have replaced a further 5 frames and 13 ribs. We also added 3 major floors to brace the hull in this area.

We have fixed the beam shelves, replacing some sections, refastening others as needed. We also replaced a section of the hog.

All of the original cement in the bilges has been replaced.

The after deck has been rebuilt and the side decks are in place.

We have built new cabin sides in the after section and added new deck beams ready for the new deck.
